If such creatures are present and don’t have total cover from you, the bells ring softly, their tone indicating the creature types present.
As an action, you can expend 1 charge to cast protection from evil and good.
This item is found in Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything. Made of mahogany wood, the protector uses the batuta to monitor trespassers and threat in Pahinga. The item blinks whenever there is a threat nearby.

Once attuned, the small shard faintly glows with various shades of red, orange and gold hues, it resembles a moving flame as it orbits.
When you use an action to toss one of these stones into the air, the stone orbits your head at a distance of 1d3 feet and confers a benefit to you. Thereafter, another creature must use an action to grasp or net the stone to separate it from you, either by making a successful attack roll against AC 24 or a successful DC 21 Dexterity (Acrobatics) check. You can use an action to seize and stow the stone, ending its effect.
