When you eventually reached the bottom of the scab and located the citadel entrance, you are greeted by a group of demons who are desperate to enter the citadel and offers an agreement to not kill you in exchange for helping them open the entrance and letting them take half of the treasures that can be found inside the citadel. After tricking them into stalling long enough to cast forbiddance near the citadel entrance, the demons realize your intentions and attempt to fight back.

Finally seeing mercy and forgiveness in your words for the very first time, Zariel embraces her newfound sense of hope and relinquishes her devilish persona for good; a transformation that causes the chains binding Elturel to Avernus to break. Soon afterwards, you begin your journey to the location of the Bleeding Citadel, only to discover that the place is slowly being consumed by a huge infernal scab. Worried that there may have been others that are making their way inside and that the scab will eventually absorb the citadel, Lulu implores you to make haste in finding an entrance into the citadel and acquire the sword before it's too late.

In the midst of helping out Bezelsteen in acquiring silted souls beneath the River Styx, a swarm of vrocks led by a glabrezu swoop into the barge to interrupt the experiment.
