Any living humanoid that leaves the step must succeed on a DC 15 Charisma saving throw or suffer the effects of bestow curse spell cast with a 9th level slot (disadvantage on Charisma ability checks and saving throws).

After stepping off the maze step and suffering the effects of a 9th level Bestow Curse, Sunang was despondent. Desperate to redeem herself, she plunged her ceremonial dagger into her chest, fulfilling the last step of the maze. She was brought back to life by the Forge Cleric Fargarth, with the blessing of Moradin, Sunang now constantly feels a slight comforting warmth from her body. Almost as if she were not cold blooded.
