Als er bei seiner letzten Begegnung mit Abenteurern tödlich verletzt wurde, betete er zu guten Göttern und wurde überraschend erhört. So schloss Zhartus einen Pakt mit einer mächtigen Deva und machte sich auf, Gutes zu tun. Also, das was er für Gutes hielt. Sein Patron Izane, bestrebt darin Zhartus Seele zu retten, ahnte nicht, worauf sie sich da einließ.
