Bei einem Überfall auf ihr Lager wurde er schwer verletzt, da weder Magier noch sonstige Tränke oder Heilungsmöglichkeiten übrig waren entschied man sich stattdessen eine experimentelle Prozedur durchzuführen. Sein Körper wurde durch verschiedene metallene Geräte erweitert die seine Knochen stützen, muskeln stimmulieren und teilweise sogar Organe ersetzen. Es gelang, doch A.C.E. konnte sich an nichts mehr aus seinem früheren Leben erinnern und verhielt sich generell merkwürdig.
