The Blackrocks of the Cobalt Ring had 6 children, three times the normal dwarven family. Da was a Merchant. Mam an Academic.
An eldest brother (LN warlock) adventurer (94yo) 7 years older, then Malkam (87yo).
9 years later a NE Tailor (78yo) who is Alive, but doing poorly due to financial trouble, yet will not accept help because he is hostile to Mal’s family to this day,
Next is (72yo) NG female explorer, Mal is unsure where she is at this time.
Just 4 years until the next girl Rose, who is now a (68yo) LN female coppersmith happily married and doing quite well in business,
and then years later the baby boy, a (53yo) N merchant-apprentice but showing great promise, though he’s just turned 50 he's already a junior salesman and making exchanges for his merchant with little oversight.

Perhaps with only a pair of children the BlackRocks might have lived in a wealthier lifestyle, but even with such a rambunctious brood, they still lived comfortably enough in a largish house on a good street. Beyond siblings, Mal had a few close friends and lived an ordinary childhood.

An affection for the old library and poring over the texts there certainly set him as unique among his kind. That experience awakened a hunger for more knowledge. A brilliant old master smith decided that Malkam had a promising combination of curiosity, intelligence, some magical aptitude, and a crafter’s eye. He took Malkalm as his apprentice and taught him his unique approach to the crafts.
