Introductions, Arrival in Town & Dwarven Archeological Site
A fog rolls into the square in Phlan during the Reclamation Day parade, within it a wave of undead attackers. Left behind is a staff of ebony bearing an amulet of an onyx wave, the symbol of the Ebon Wave, an offshoot of the Zhentarim We are directed to a book bindery to learn more about the Ebon Wave's activity within Zhentil Keep. The bindery's owner, a white dragonborn bard named K requested that we attempt to convince the Ebon Wave to leave Zhentil Keep peacefully. As we approached the forest around the Keep, a pair of Wyverns with three casters riding attacked with fire breath, dropped rocks, and spellcraft. One of the casters had a spellbook on them which Anorak took and begins to study.

At the top fo the obsidian spire raised from Zhentil Keep was we discovered Marzellus Marshward. The former Zhentarim officer and current necromancer revealed himself a Fallen Aasimar seeking to wage a terrorist campaign and eventual war with the pane of Celestia. A fool's notion to be sure. His necromantic magics were not finely honed for martial application and with Brek the barbarian assisting by holding Marshward down, we were able to desroy him - at least temporarily - so that the portal to Celestia he'd opened would close. Gained potion of superior healing, potion of vitality, spell scrolls of contingency, circle of death, and mislead

While at The Yawning Portal to buy and sell spellbooks with a Chultan dealer, I met Danifae Melarn, a grenadier of Bregan D'arthe. She bartered my ancient Zhentarim shield for a staff she claimed to have found in the pincers of a human archmage who had purportedly been warped into an insectoid aberration by the Far Realm. It's actually plausible as the provenances of magic items go, and it does seem to be very powerful. I will throughouly study the staff to make sure it has no lingering traces of the Far Realm tied to it.
