Im not in mulmaster two days and already invited to an art exhibit hosted by a noble house. Good fortune, right? But no sooner than I find a good conversation, a jealous commoner woman torches the portrait of Zora Gos and the Zora herself! Naturally, I sprang to action and doused the flames, but i fear Zora Gos will require strong magic and quite some time to recuperate. Yes, it would be food to send her flowers and a letter. Well, the accused's husband And the Zor both wanted answers and being something of an artist, diviner and ritualist myself, I had to say, 'yes, of course I will help fix this dreadful situation." How could you not?! Investigating the art, and her nephew the artist, we found that his works are inspiring pyromania in simply anyone who views them for too long, both the noble and the humble cityfolk. It seems that the patron funding the artist is a modestly wealthy artisan. A glassblower named Doril Cire, a secret member of the Cult of Eternal Flame and a fanatic of Imix. some kind of fire elemental demi-deity, I think someone said. Well we arrive to Cire's shop to find him in a ritual to summon a trio of Fire snakes. They were dreadful and burned Bambooze somewhat thoroughly. I know, its an odd name even for a gentleman of leisure. Very humble means, but goodhearted and great fun. Anyway, no sooner have we finished that fiasco than we learn that the painter, Andrik Gos, was under some compulsion and finished a painting that will unleash magmins to burn what parts of the city are still standing. Nothing for it but to subdue him and stop the flames. I do so hope the healers can help that boy and his aunt. Very strange introduction to the city, but I still find Mulmaster tolerable all the same.
At a gathering for a select a few members of society, I met the young, handsome, and eligible, Godwyl Gos. Yes, the nephew! Well, he was smitten, dear, and asked me to find his sister, Leticia. I know! These boys and their transparent excuses to see us again. It seems young Leticia had been swept up in some fad amongst the young nobility, an ascetic practice called the Breath of the Yellow Rose. She should know better; it was a transparent ruse purporting mysterious Ilmatari meditation techniques to transcend beyond eating food and all the usual rubbish. A bit of research revealed it all to be a power play by a minor noble scion, Thurs-something. Yes, the tax collector's boy; thats the one. Yes, handsome if you like blonde and self-absorbed. His whole scheme was backed by those dreadful Howling Hatred cultists. As soon as they were handled and Dragomir and Sir Galdered took the cad to task, Mr. Ascetic gave up and we escorted the young ladies home. Oh, I dont know whats to become of him, but I imagine House Gos will recieve some favorable treatment by the tax lords for awhile. Add Potion of Lightning Resistance
Yesterday this Sargent with the Watch barged in on our breakfast to tell us we had to go in the sewers to find two sets of adventurers. Some children found the corpse of a strange creature, a flumph I think they're called? Anyway this poor dead grey thing washes out of the Mulmaster sewers and Sgt. hates-breakfast sent some mercenaries and then a group of adventurers to investigate it. None of them come back out, so now we are expected to go in there and find them. It was revolting and I don't want to talk about any of it. Not the smells, or the ghouls, or the cultists. Yes, I said cultists. We found 10-11 cultists of the Crushing Wave and a cruel, rude fire cultist named Xanan. We were outnumbered 3 to 1, but managed to capture 5 of them alive. Not a lot of good it did, since the Watch just executed them that afternoon. Yes, I'm sure they had some kind of trial, but I wasn't there for it. Just read about it in the broadsheet the next day. Well those awful cultists were down there to do some graverobbing from a tunnel off the sewers and the whole thing was just terrible. Completely ruined my dress and shoes. Had to replace them entirely, but these are ever so fine. Destroyed 1 set Traveler's clothes. Bought 1 set fine clothes. (-15 gp) Found Potion of Healing. Gloomfen manor upkeep (-5 DT, +10 gp)
