Kalte returned to Stagwick, where he led a group of adventurers to meet Frontier Scout Wum Burdun. Wum introduced us to a Frost Giant named Scövja Thurfurst whose son had been abducted. Wum suspected a group named The Bloodriders, a militia of Stagwick veterans who hate giantkind. Scövja has agreed to give Wum 5 days for us to recover her son, Burleigh. While inspecting the site of the attack, we recovered evidence that the Bloodriders ambushed the giant, and then along the trail, a murdered Bloodrider killed by a human's knife. The group convinced the Bloodrider Commander Scarn Mikel to release Burleigh, but Bloodrider Captain Cathica Lygia staged a coup and attacked us as we were returning to Stagwick. we cut her and her cohort down, saving Burleigh. Story Award: Frontier Friend By convincing Scarn Mikel to let Burleigh Thurnfurst go peacefully, the Blood Riders gain a new respect for the Frontier Scouts. As a result, the riders stop bullying the scouts and they stay out of one another’s way. Kalte and a few companions are summoned by King Hartwick and SEER to rejoin the defense of Stagwick, as Jarl Ryndolg's giant army has laid siege to the Hartsvale region. Uli of the Frontier Scouts reported a powerful creature in the area around Middle Spire, with a lot of game found rent asunder and consumed raw. SEER has concerns that this could be a powerful creature summoned by the sounding of Hartkiller's Horn and the adventureres are asked to investigate to ensure it is not going En route to the Spires, we are ambushed by a Frost giant, an ice spire ogre, and two orogs from the top of a cliff. Climbing the 35' shelf in plate was more effort than Kalte could muster, so after cutting down the frost giant, he watched Torrik the Barbarian clean up the remainder. On top of Middle Spire, we discovered a skeletal giant gobbling venison from a score of felled deer and mountain goats. To our suprise, he was the Hartkiller, son of Annam All-Father and the demigod namesake of Hartsvale. It seems that it was not only living giants who felt the call of the Horn. He asked us to help him find more to eat so he could regain his strength in order to defend Stagwick and Hartsvale. The group tracked the gargantuan Beast of Talos, a legendary remorhaz that felt no pain from fire, ice, lightning, nor thunder. It ate two of the less experienced in the party, but they were saved before death by digestion. Dragging the massive creature back to Hartkiller was troublesome, but it was the protein he needed to make his defense of Stagwick and slay Jarl Ryndolg, shattering his alliance of giants. We found a dagger of venom in the side of the beast. Perhaps I can find someone who wants it.

SEER requests the Heroes of Parnast & Stagwick meet her in the hamlet of Beregost, near the Wood of Sharp Teeth and the ancient site of Durlag's Tower. She informs the heroes that a cloud giant named Baron Rajiram who typically raids the islands off the Sword Coast. Intelligence reports say the Baron's airships are mobilizing for Durlag's Tower. The tower of the famed dwarven hero holds much treasure by legend, but has never been broached. The heroes are tasked with recovering whatever is of value within before the Cloud Giant arrives. The party arrives at the Tower and makes a thorough inspection of the premises, killing several demons, a zombie beholder, and a pair of dwarven assassins hired by the Baron. After finding and assembling special holy symbols of Moradin and Silvanus, the gates to the tower were unlocked. Within lurked a nalfeshnee named Schvalt & a quasit named K'napp. The assassin sent by SEER destroyed Schvalt in seconds, saving much of the group who were felled by a wicked lightning bolt thrown by the quasit. Story Award: Favor of SEER By choosing to not sell the jade dagger and turning it over to SEER, you have earned her admiration, as this very dagger was lost during an expedition that, in her words; “went poorly”. The blade is a family heritage item and all that remains of her long-lost uncle, whom she refuses to name directly. SEER provides one spell scroll of Darkvision. Found a potion of Superior Healing, a potion of Invulnerability, a scroll of Greater Invisibility, and a potion of Speed

The heroes descend into the sublevels of Durlag's Tower. On the first sublevel, The Hall of Honor, the adventurers find four statures of the Dwarven gods Moradin (the Shorn), Vergadain (the Hunter), Abbathor (the Delver), and Gorm (the Crafter). The statues animate as clay golems as chase the adventurers from the hall and down the stairs. The second sublevel, Vergadain's Crusade, featured a number of walls of force and a vast quantity of dwarven firespirits, an ancient, potent and flammable alcohol. Hidden within the thousands of gallons of spirits were gelatinous cubes that tried to drown the adventurers in the spirits, but ingenuity (and a lot of held breath) prevailed. The third sublevel was Gorm's Gauntlet, a dynamic tilting walkway device over a magma pool and surrounded by moving walls that nearly burned the adventurers while they dealt with swooping horned devils. Sublevel four is themed to Abbathor's Greed & Avarice, with the room filled with piles and piles of illusory treasure, all cursed to any who would take it. By solving the riddles of the statues of the dwarven gods, the group were able to descend to the lowest level, Durlag's Tomb. Within Durlag's Tomb were trophies from his heroic deeds in legendary times, but also an ancient copper tablet that seems to hold clues to the magic used to create trolls in ancient times, as well as Durlag's favorite battle-axe, Skeggox. While removing the tablet and Skeggox from the Tomb, the adventurers are attacked by Baron Rajiram's forces: a simulacrum of the cloud giant smiling one himself, supported by several warlords and two master thieves. After vanquishing the foes, the adventurers return to SEER with the tablet. Found one Potion of Superior Healing, one Potion of Invulnerability Story Award: Favor of Candlekeep. Your surrender of the copper tablet to the acolytes of Oghma at Candlekeep has them overjoyed. The Great Readers spend many weeks poring over the ancient artifact’s hidden meanings and may one day puzzle out where the missing section is located. The next time you visit Candlekeep or interact with the faithful of Oghma, any Charisma ability checks you make are made with advantage.
A few days after the exploration of Durlag's Tower, Hsing finds the group in Beregost. He frantically reports that he was seperated from SEER while exploring the ruins of Ulcaster's school of magic and he cannot locate her. We set off to find SEER, and on arriving, witness three stone giants killing traveling priests of Lathander that had stopped at the ruins to rest. Moments later, Kalte blacks out. When he comes to, Broca, Flagg, and Dusk tell him that he was possessed by the spirit of Ulcaster himself. Ulcaster asked the group to locate the magic jar where his spirit has been hidden away, then to find where his followers interred his body in the crypts below. Pushing aside a stone cover, we make our way into the cellars and dungeon of the old school of magic. We discover the expected undead, with Kalte dispatching a half-dozen vampire spawn and a handful of wraiths with little trouble. Dusk, Broca, and Flagg put down as many and a pair of oozes as well. In a space secreted behind a panel in Ulcaster's Lab, we were able to restore the archmage to his body from the jar, effectively resurrecting him. Following the other tunnel, we discover SEER is enthralled by a vampire named Levanna, which we quickly dispatched by Dusk turning Flagg invisible and the ranger and bard assassinating the vampire's physical form in seconds. A wizard named Max and previously unknown to the group, created the sunlight needed to utterly destroy the nightwalker before she could misty escape. SEER seems weakened, but not permanently harmed. We took her back to Beregost to recover. + 1 potion of Superior Healing. Kalte also exchanges some of his coin to take his payout in the form of a ruby-and-emerald-encrusted ivory statuette of a wizard, worth 1,500gp and a jade statuette of Mystra with seven pearl stars, worth 250gp.
SEER sends us back into the space beneath Ulcaster's ruined arcanum to clear out the pirates and looters sent by Baron Rajiram. They are seeking Ulcaster's personal library and chambers, which he had placed in a secret demiplane. The combat is less than challenging as the master thieves, swashbucklers, and mages sent by the Baron are easily dispatched, even when sent at us a dozen at a time. The shield guardians, golems, and spirit naga are equally easy to remove. *+ potion of healing (superior)

SEER calls the team to her tower, briefing them on the reappearance of the Isle of Xxiphu. Baron Rajiram’s forces have begun to explore a mysterious island. She believes an aboleth artifact is warping the Weave of Magic and is the Baron's likely goal. After allowing the group to select additional gear, she introduces us to a flight of bronze dragons that will take us to the island. The dragons deliver us to sea elves in the ocean near the island. They tell us that their princess has gone with a vanguard, give the adventurers potions of water breathing, and the underwater infiltration begins. Entry is denied by a number of sahaugin and their giant sharks. In the last chamber before the surface of the island, the crew finds the Princess of the sea elves being tortured by sahaugin and free her. Story Award: Purple Crystal of the Isle These crystals are columnar in nature; long slender prisms of a translucent purple mineral. The crystals detect as magical and radiate conjuration magic. Detailed investigation determines that they are not native to the Prime Material Plane, instead being formed by a manifestation of the Far Realm. The crystals can focus psychic energy, with a particular application to the control of constructs.

When I saw that axe sitting in SEER's weapons locker, I knew it had Dani's name all over it. I mean, not really, but an unbreakable Greataxe brought her to mind. Not sure that I know what to do with this harp, but she says she got it from a lich that was an apprentice of the Mad Mage of Undermountain. It has magic butterflies that play it for you.
