Story Awards
* Faction Favor - You have won the favor of two of the great factions: The Emerald Enclave, the Lords’ Alliance, the Zhentarim, the Order of the Gauntlet, the Harpers, or Force Grey (circle which factions apply when you receive this award). As the bearer of this award, you may at any time replace your own background feature with the Safe Haven background feature (Sword Coast Adventurer’s Guide).
In addition, you may call upon these factions to cast raise dead on your character if your remains are taken to Waterdeep. Doing so removes this story award from your record. You can use this favor even if you don’t have the Faction Agent background.

Level 4.

Unlock: Belt of Fire Giant Strength. Wondrous Item, very rare (requires attunement). This belt is made from plates of steel embossed with golden filigree connected by metal pins. A fire giants face adorns the buckle. The giant appears to be having a hearty laugh as she wears an enormous smile on her face. While wearing this belt, your Strength score changes to 25. The item has no effect on you if your Strength without the belt is equal to or greater than 25. Price: 20 tier 3 TCP

Item: Potion of Greater Healing

Unlock: Staff of Thunder and Lightning. This staff can be wielded as a magic quarterstaff that grants a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it.

Story Award: Vergadain’s Firespirits. Vergadain, a dwarven deity of wealth and trickery, was known for his favored drink; as clear as water and smelled of honey and cane sugar, but was in truth an incredibly potent liquor that put standard dwarven spirits to shame. He would sometimes challenge unknowing humans and elves to drinking contents, where he would slyly swap in sweetened water while his opponent would down drink after drink of this highly-flammable liquid. It rarely ended well for them. And now you have the recipe! You may spend 60 downtime days to craft one barrel of firespirits. Each batch requires special sweet herbs from Bitter-root’s copse near Durlag’s Tower and 100 gp worth of other materials, including aged dwarven spirits blessed by a dwarven priest. If you find yourself in possession of campaign documentation that bestows ownership of a distillery, this time and gold cost is reduced by half. Each barrel contains approximately 30 gallons of firespirits, and can be sold for 1,000 gp. Alternately, as this is a rare elixir; it may be worth a significant amount to Fai Chen, certain high-ranking lords, or other purveyors of such fineries. Additionally, if you give a nip of firespirits (just a wee one) to a dwarf, all Charisma (Persuasion) checks made with them are made with advantage for the next hour.

Ring of Spell Storing

Unlock: Tome of Leadership and Influence. The red leather that covers this tome is embossed with a smiling man with a third eye. This book contains guidelines for influencing and charming others, and its words are charged with magic. If you spend 48 hours over a period of 6 days or fewer studying the book’s contents and practicing its guidelines, your Charisma score increases by 2, as does your maximum for that score. The manual then loses its magic, but regains it in a century. A description of this item can be found in the Dungeon Master’s Guide (pg. 208).

Story Reward: Nature of the Weave. You have uncovered a series of tomes written by the archmage, Manshoon. By spending 50 downtime days, you gain proficiency in the Arcana skill. If you are already proficient in Arcana, you double your proficiency when making checks with the skill.
