2019-01-28 22:45 DDHC-DMM Dungeon of the Mad Mage 3 10 Show

Quests
* The Hunt for Magic Items - Obaya Uday approached us offered to pay for any unwanted magic items we find in Undermountain. The amount she's willing to pay is based on the item's rarity; 10pp for common, 50pp for uncommon, 500pp for rare, and 5000pp for very rare. She made it clear these prices are nonnegotiable Obaya is also interested in buying spellbooks. She prices a spellbook based on the highest-level spell contained in it: 5 pp for 1st level, 25 pp for 2nd or 3rd level, 100 pp for 4th or 5th level, 250 pp for 6th or 7th level, and 500 pp for 8th or 9th level. Once she has purchased 7500pp worth of magic items and spellbooks, she will return to her master in Chult.
* Pay a Harper Debt - A bard named Mattrim Mereg, known as Threestrings, and who plays a three-stringed lute at the Yawning Portal needs a pouch of gold delivered to a female half-drow named Cal'al Claddani, who runs a tavern called the Flagon and the Dragon in Skullport. Cal'al provided shelter and healing to a wounded Harper spy in Skullport and is owed payment for her support. Once we deliver the pouch, we can take refuge in a Harper hideout called Dalagor's Fortress, located on the uppermost level of Skullport. Mattrim told us that a dragonborn mage named Felrax guards the place.
* The Search for Kressando Rosznar - Esvele Rosznar who we met at the Yawning Portal asked us to keep an eye out for Kres sando, a 22-year-old man with fair skin and dark curly hair, trained in the arts of stealth and thievery. She also told us that Kressando wears a platinum signet ring bearing the Rosznar family crest (a diving white falcon on a field of blue) and an inscription of the family motto ("Fly high and stoop swift"). She promised that if we can facilitate Kressando's safe return or deliver proof of his whereabouts to Esvele, she will owe us a favor, adding that "You can trust in House Rosznar."
* The Throne of the Coronal - Volothamp Geddarm, famous explorer and raconteur, regaled us with the following tale: "This story dates to the fall of Illefarn, an elven kingdom of the North. An alabaster throne belonging to Syglaeth Audark, the last coronal of Illefarn, disappeared from the capital city of Aelinthaldaar, where the Mad Mage built his tower and today stands Waterdeep. It's said that a group of dwarves feared the destruction of such a miraculous work of stonecraft and stole the throne right out from under the elves' slender noses. Where the dwarves hid it for so long, who knows? But should you find it in Undermountain, it would please the elves of the North to know it survives."

Characters who sacrificed themselves to the fire elemental earn the following story award: Worthy Sacrifice. You willingly sacrificed yourself to achieve your goal and protect your companions. Malana Homwell has learned of your deed and is impressed by your actions.

2018-11-22 18:00 DDAL08-04 A Wrinkle in the Weave 1 10 Ring of Mind Shielding Show

Ring of Mind Shielding. While wearing this ring, you are immune to magic that allows other creatures to read your thoughts, determine whether you are lying, know your alignment, or know your creature type. Creatures can telepathically communicate with you only if you allow it. You can use an action to cause the ring to become
invisible until you use another action to make it visible, until you remove the ring, or until you die. If you die while wearing the ring, your soul enters it, unless it already houses a soul. You can remain in the ring or depart for the afterlife. As long as your soul is in the ring, you can telepathically communicate with any creature wearing it. A wearer can't prevent this telepathic communication. This item is found on Magic Item Table F in the Dungeon Master’s Guide. This ornate silver ring is engraved with the words “Be where they are not” in the Alzhedo language of southwestern Faerûn.

2018-12-04 18:03 CCC-TRI-03 Fences and Swords 1 5 Rod of Rulership Show

Rod of Rulership. Rod, rare (requires attunement). You can use an action to present the rod and command obedience from each creature of your choice that you can see within 120 feet of you. Each target must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or be charmed by you for 8 hours. While charmed in this way, the creature regards you as its trusted leader. If harmed by you or your companions, or commanded to do something contrary to its nature, a target ceases to be charmed in this way. The rod can’t be used again until the next dawn. This ornate wooden rod is a dark green hue, about two and a half feet in length. The head of the rod is a circular, heavy scepter head, with green banding and rubies interlaid into a gold crown. The base of the rod is a gold-leafed leather pommel with a tassel. This item can be found in the Dungeon Master’s Guide.

Friends in High Places. Due to your savvy completion of Derlen’s task, you have begun to make a name for yourself in the Moonsea region, and have gained a small bit of favor with a member of the Lords’ Alliance. When playing adventures published by The Role Initiative (TRI), you may gain advantage on a Charisma-based skill check for an interaction involving a member of the Lords’ Alliance, or a city, town, or other type of government official in the Moonsea Region. This story award can be used once.

2018-12-13 18:12 CCC-BLD-0103 Bleeding Gate: Lineage 1 5 Stone of Controlling Earth Elementals Show

Stone of Controlling Earth Elementals. Wondrous item, rare. Presented by Eka. If the stone is touching the ground, you can use an action to speak its command word and summon an earth elemental, as if you had cast the conjure elemental spell. The stone can’t be used this way again until the next dawn. The stone weighs 5 pounds and is in the shape of a round mother goddess.

2018-12-19 00:00 CCC-LINKS-01 Champion of the People 1 10 “Fat” Markoth’s Cummerbund Show

Story Award: Friend of Phlan

Unlock: “Fat” Markoth’s Cummerbund. Markoth – “Fat Mar” to those that didn’t truly know him – treasured this reinforced, velvety waistband above all other possessions. He wore it every day in life but was never able to fully grasp its benefits despite being attuned to it: while attuned, the wearer’s strength becomes 21 and, once per day, the wearer has advantage on one saving throw that might otherwise result in a level of exhaustion. A description of this item can be found in the Dungeon Master’s Guide under the entry ‘Belt of Giant Strength (Hill)’. While wearing this belt, your Strength score changes to 21. The item has no effect on you if your Strength without the belt is equal to or greater than 21.

2018-12-20 13:56 DDAL05-11 Forgotten Traditions 1 10 Opal of the Ild Rune Show

Opal of the Ild Rune. Wondrous item, rare (requires attunement). This triangular fire opal measures about three inches on each side and is half an inch thick. The ild (fire) rune shimmers within its core, causing it to be slightly warm to the touch. The opal has the following properties, which work only while it’s on your person. This item can be found in Storm King’s Thunder, Appendix B. Ignite. As an action, you can ignite an object within 10 feet of you. The object must be flammable, and the fire starts in a circle no larger than 1 foot in diameter. Fire’s Friend. You have resistance to cold damage. Fire Tamer. As an action, you can extinguish any open flame within 10 feet of you. You choose how much fire to extinguish in that radius. Gift of Flame. You can transfer the opal’s magic to a nonmagical item—a weapon or a suit of armor—by tracing the ild rune there with your finger. The transfer takes 8 hours of work that requires the two items to be within 5 feet of each other. At the end, the opal is destroyed, and the rune appears in red on the chosen item, which gains a benefit based on its form:  Weapon. The weapon is now an uncommon magic weapon. It deals an extra 1d6 fire damage to any target it hits.  Armor. The armor is now a rare magic item that requires attunement. You have resistance to cold damage while wearing the armor.

Story Award: The Shattering (Zhentarim mission).

Story Award: Student of Stone. Illsenstaad has chosen you and you alone to complete his life’s work and put his soul to rest. By spending a total of 365 downtime days (these need not be spent all at once) possessed by Illsenstaad, allowing him to tell his stories and carve them into the living rock of Hotun-Shûl, you gain the Student of Stone story award (below). If you are a dwarf, possess the Guild Artisan (mason or stonecutter) background, or are otherwise proficient in mason’s tools; you complete this in half the normal time. You have studied under the tutelage of Illsenstaad, a long-dead stone giant loremaster and stone carver. You gain the benefit of the dwarven Stonecunning trait. If you already possess the Stonecunning trait, you triple your proficiency bonus instead of doubling it. In addition, you also gain proficiency in mason’s tools and the Giant language if you are not already proficient.

Story Award: Dreamwalker. Kryshilir has taught you to look beyond the veil of the world and navigate your dreams. By spending 25 downtime days, you travel to the Seven Stones and meditate under Kryshilir’s whispered guidance. Upon completing this downtime activity, you gain the Dreamwalker story award (below). Your meditations have granted you the gift of foresight. Upon receiving this story award, roll a d20 and record the number rolled. Once, you can replace any attack roll, saving throw, or ability check made by you or a creature that you can see with the number you rolled. You must choose to do so before the roll. Once you have used this story award in this fashion, remove it. This story award may be earned again as often as you like, but you must complete the Dreamwalker downtime activity (above) each time and may not do so again until you no longer possess this story award.

2018-12-27 18:05 DDAL08-07 Into the Dark 1 10 Mace of Smiting Show

Unlock: Mace of Smiting. This head of the mace of smiting features an angry dwarven face. The specter of Reizzlerum Caskview still maintains a connection to the weapon, causing the owner to gain an unending thirst for ale. Weapon (mace), rare You gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. The bonus increases to +3 when you use the mace to attack a construct. When you roll a 20 on an attack roll made with this weapon, the target takes an extra 7 bludgeoning damage, or an extra 14 bludgeoning damage if it's a construct. If a construct has 25 hit points or fewer after taking this damage, it is destroyed.

Story Award: Endless Bluetooth Ale. If a way was discovered to set up a supply of the blue lichen to the Yawning Portal, Durnan provides all the Bluetooth Ale the characters can drink whenever they visit. Brewed from the blue lichen grown on the skeletons of dwarves left for dead in the Stonebone Mines, bluetooth ale is a truly unique beverage. The strong dwarven-style ale is a rich sapphire color, and has a faint earthy taste. While the ale lacks most of the special properties of the blue lichen, it still can turn the imbibers teeth (and bones) temporarily blue. The ale functions as an ingested poison. The drinker must succeed on a DC 12 Constitution saving throw or find that their bones and teeth turn a dark shade of blue for 24 hours.

2018-12-20 13:56 DDAL05-11 Forgotten Traditions 1 10 1 Opal of the Ild Rune Show
