Night Caller
uncommon
DDHC-TYP The Sunless Citadel
Show
Notes:
This whistle is carved from transparent crystal, and it resembles a tiny dragon curled up like a snail. The name Night Caller is etched on the whistle in Dwarvish runes. If a character succeeds on a DC 20 Intelligence (Arcana or History) check, the character recalls lore that says the duergar made several such whistles for various groups in an age past.
If you blow the whistle in darkness or under the night sky, it allows you to cast the animate dead spell. The target can be affected through up to 10 feet of soft earth or similar material, and if it is, it takes 1 minute to claw its way to the surface to serve you. Once the whistle has animated an undead creature, it can’t do so again until 7 days have passed.
Once every 24 hours, you can blow the whistle to reassert control over one or two creatures you animated with it.

Notes:
You have a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls you make with this magic weapon. If it hits an object, the hit is automatically a critical hit, and it can deal bludgeoning or slashing damage to the object (your choice). Further, damage from nonmagical sources can’t harm the weapon.

Notes:
DDAL05-05 A Dish Best Served Cold
While you wear this cloak, it projects an illusion that makes you appear to be standing in a place near your actual location, causing any creature to have disadvantage on attack rolls against you. If you take damage, the property ceases to function until the start of your next turn. This property is suppressed while you are incapacitated, restrained, or otherwise unable to move. This item can be found in the Dungeon Master’s Guide. This cloak is made of the pelt of a smooth, black-furred creature. A bone toggle fastens the cloak around its wearer’s neck. Close examination of the gold-embroidered hem reveals a poem that reads (in Common): “Six men in pain; six men rent. Blood, it falls like rain; broken bodies bent. Six men plead; and six men cry; Tearing arm and leg, six men die.”
Talking Doll
common
WBW-DC-DES-01-07 The Dark Thread
Show
Notes:
While this stuffed doll is within 5 feet of you, you can spend a short rest telling it to say up to six phrases, none of which can be more than six words long, and you can set a condition under which the doll speaks each phrase. You can also replace old phrases with new ones. Whatever the condition, it must occur within 5 feet of the doll to make it speak. For example, whenever someone picks up the doll, it might say, “I want a piece of candy.” The doll’s phrases are lost when your attunement to the doll ends.
This talking doll takes the form of a hand puppet that requires full use to teach it new phrases. The doll resembles a dark-haired man wearing regal garb. His face features red-button eyes and felt fangs.
Mildy's Staff (Staff of Swarming Insects)
rare
WBW-DC-DES-01-07 The Dark Thread
Show
Notes:
This staff has 10 charges and regains 1d6 + 4 expended charges daily at dawn. If you expend the last charge, roll a d20. On a 1, a swarm of insects consumes and destroys the staff, then disperses.
Spells. While holding the staff, you can use an action to expend some of its charges to cast one of the following spells from it, using your spell save DC: giant insect (4 charges) or insect plague (5 charges).
Insect Cloud. While holding the staff, you can use an action and expend 1 charge to cause a swarm of harmless flying insects to spread out in a 30-foot radius from you. The insects remain for 10 minutes, making the area heavily obscured for creatures other than you. The swarm moves with you, remaining centered on you. A wind of at least 10 miles per hour disperses the swarm and ends the effect.
Mildy’s Staff is a branch of ebon wood leaking a crimson sap despite years of being removed from the Gulthias Tree. Insects called by it are cruel, biting and stinging all save for the creature attuned to the staff. Mildy can craft more of these staves, and all can be recalled to her with an action so long as she and the staff are on the same plane. The staff is treated as unholy, a legacy of its crafting, and evil plant creatures view its wielder favorably.
