Winter's Discontent run

Get mage spell book. Realize after game that I have played Gerald as more neutral than chaotic neutral so I change that on the sheet.

The trickster god Papazotl (represented by an Eblis) appears in Gerald's dreams after his first night in Omu. Set up as a way to make a more specific devil patron. I went out of my way to tell Emily that Gerald wouldn't pick an animal, he'd get picked. Then I rolled a d10 and got a 10, insisting on dealer's choice.

DM wanted several massively buffed encounters vs. threatening party with slow attrition. So we got 3 nycaloths, then 4 erinyes, then a host of 6 trolls and 7-8 orc chiefs with no rest. And insane XP.

Started w/ Sir Reginald. He dies in 1 turn so I bring Gerald as his "surrogate" and Sir Reginald gets soul devoured. Game goes long so Quall's Feather token (anchor) not divvied.

We get to see Juiblex through a portal to the Abyss, fight some nasty oozes. Then four armored vampires and two vampire casters (that's 6 CR 15 foes). Fattening up for the finale.

End w/ full resources except down 1 d8 hit die. Have 9 THP.

Buy 2 potions of healing. End w/ full resources except down one d8 hit die, have 9 THP.

End w/ 53 HP, used fighter hit die and 4 warlock hit dice, used 1 spell slot, used second wind, used dark one's own luck.

Finally claim magic item for completing hardcover. Take portable hole because sure, it's cool. Switch out improved pact weapon for eldritch sight (detect magic at will).

Buy 150 gp material for shadow of moil after game. Then (ironically) decide against taking the spell until level 9.

Part of Chapter 2, part Tortle Island

End down both fighter hit dice and 4? warlock dice

Wrap up fate of Yuan-ti in Ch 4 (by rigging duel in favor of Ras Nsi). Start the Purple Eblis! Gerald starts telling stories that with the death curse gone, Papazotl and the trickster gods will be reborn and bring Chult to a new era of prosperity. He rolls 32, 36 and 28 on persuasion and gets 18 cultists in Omu.
