Talon is a +1 longsword held in a silver-chased scabbard; the sword was last known to be in the possession of the elven huntress Rinara Tal’andren. It is inscribed with the name "Talon," and its hilt is worked to resemble the silver talons of a bird of prey with outspread wings, hence its name. A character who succeeds a DC15 Intelligence (History) check recognizes the sword and recalls its lore: The blade once belonged to a great knight named Aldith Tresendar, known as the Black Hawk. Sir Aldith died fighting off the orcs that attacked Phandalin and ransacked his family’s estate by storming the underground tunnels leading into the Tresendar manor cellars. Talon was lost here until the Nothic found it.
